THERE'S A NEW EIC IN TOWN
EDITORIAL | APRIL 29, 2024
A new era is on the horizon for Cover 2 Cover Magazine with Zoe Cummings taking the helm as Editor-in-Chief.
Cummings is a rising junior studying journalism in the Cathy Hughes School of Communications. She’s consistently reported for C2C throughout her sophomore year, responsible for some of our most popular pieces. The honors student has an innate ability to understand and analyze culture, informing her experience as the next EIC of the magazine.
Just two years into her Howard journey, Cummings has had a hand in many different subcultures since coming to campus in 2022.
When she’s not writing, she serves as the Producer for Nikole Hannah-Jones x Spotify’s 1619 Project Podcast and the 2023-2024 Miss Beta on Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated’s Royal Court and a member of Alpha Chapter, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated. She’s also been published in Sterling Notes, a literary journal published by The Sterling Allen Brown English Society.
Her extensive campus involvement will allow her to maintain what all of us love about C2C—our touch on the pulse of HU.
“One of the things I love so much about Cover 2 Cover is that it is all the things that me and my friends have talked about,” says Cummings. “We've talked about sneaky linking and the sex life of Howard students. We've talked about the figure skating team. We've talked about all of these things that have been featured in our magazine. And so to me, Cover 2 Cover feels like home, it feels like a safe place. And it's my goal as Editor-In-Chief to make sure that it remains inclusive of every student on campus, while also expanding our knowledge, expanding what we think about, expanding how we think about it and creating some important conversations about what the Howard University culture is and what it should be.”
For the newly instated leader, expansion means increasing production, leveraging partnerships and diving even deeper into what students really care about.
“It's a magazine that is for Howard University students, by Howard University students, and it deserves to be read by every single person on this campus,” she says.
As founding Editor of Cover 2 Cover, I (alongside my wonderful staff) have committed myself to building a lasting legacy for this magazine. The work we do is not something I take lightly. We are positive that C2C is in great hands.
