The SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes that began in the summer have left many wondering when they can expect new releases of their favorite television series or movie franchises.
While you may be disappointed by the postponed rollout of your favorite shows and films due to the strike delays, now is the perfect time to catch up on reruns or something new you haven’t heard of. From the hype behind “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer”, several films that were also released this summer didn’t get as much shine.
Here are five movies released this summer that you may have missed:

With A24 being the same production studio responsible for major horror film releases like “Hereditary” and “Bodies Bodies Bodies,” this title is perfect for a spooky movie night.
It follows a group of friends who audaciously attempt to conjure a spirit through what they believe to be an innocent game. The film has even earned a 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. You can watch this eerie and disturbing tale unfold on Paramount+ with Showtime.

“It Only Takes A Night”
After the last horror movie suggestion, “It Only Takes A Night” should help to ease your mind.
Centered around a group of girlfriends planning to embark on a girls’ trip, with quick-witted characters that are sure to put a grin on your face. This light-hearted comedy is available for streaming on Hulu, Starz, Prime Video, and Apple TV.

“Zoey 102”
If rom-coms and nostalgia are more your speed, “Zoey 102” is the moment for you. A direct follow-up to the 2000’s classic “Zoey 101”, “Zoey 102” tells the story of the beloved Zoey Brooks as she navigates adulthood, and pursues a more serious relationship with her partner. You can stream this romantic reboot on Paramount+.

“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem”
This one’s for all of the animation enthusiasts out there who also loved the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise as kids.
With a star-studded cast featuring Jackie Chan, Ice Cube, Seth Rogen, and Maya Rudolph, this action film is sure to leave you shell-shocked. The hero turtles save New York City while striving for a regular teenage life on Amazon Prime Video.

“Bird Box Barcelona”
Bird Box Barcelona is a follow-up of 2018’s Bird Box, in which we enter a world of mysterious supernatural forces that cause immediate, drastic harm upon being seen.
