From Seed to Splendor: Spiritual Spring Renewal and Reflective Journeys with Delight Ministries"
LIFESTYLE | APRIL 13, 2024
Psalm 37:4, "Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart." Picture a resilient seed nestled in wintry soil, drawing strength from its sturdy roots and nurturing elements during uncertain times. Similarly, at Howard University's Delight Ministries, students discover spiritual nourishment, cultivating faith and joy amidst academic pursuits.
Joi Wood, a Delight Leader at Howard University states, “the mission of Delight is to invite women into a Christ-community that fosters vulnerability and transforms stories. For us here at Howard and in our chapter, our team is committed to leading college women to Jesus by inviting them to sit at His feet.”
Through shared narratives and triumphs, they create a fellowship where hearts intertwine with divine purpose, blossoming like flowers in the rich soil of community and lasting bonds.
“Delight is more than a weekly Bible study; it’s a community” Maya Janae, a Delight Leader reflects, “I have met my best friends through events, community service projects, and especially Delight dates. These give us an opportunity to grow in our faith together, impacting my daily life as a student. I will forever look back on my years at Howard as a positive experience because of Delight.”
Structured meetings at Delight Ministries feature activities, Bible studies, and small group discussions, initiating deeper and spiritual connections among participants. By immersing themselves in this nurturing environment, they undergo a transformative journey of strengthening the root of the Word inside of the soil, I mean - soul.
Reflecting on the organization's impact, Toniyah Mccoy, another Delight Leader shares, “The organization of our meetings helps increase fellowship by allowing us to create a welcoming environment for women to get to know each other before we dive into our chapter.”
As the school year ends, students embrace the art of spiritual Spring Cleaning, reflecting on the months of personal growth. Students find solace and strength, enabling them to navigate life's challenges academically and personally. By watering their faith and connecting with relatable peers, students unlock the full potential of their spiritual growth, blossoming into vibrant flowers in the garden of life.
“..Do what you love”, says Maya Janae, “I love growing in Christ together with a community of women and I believe others should do the same.”
