In the pulsating heart of the nation's capital, where history breathes life into every corner, Black History Month unfolds with unmatched vibrancy. Picture Washington, DC, as a canvas adorned with the compelling tales of African-American pioneers—its streets echoing the struggles and triumphs of an extraordinary community.

Now, imagine immersing yourself in the rich tapestry of DC's Black History Month celebrations through these five thought-provoking events before the end of the month. Cover2Cover has compiled a list of Black History Month celebrations you don’t want to miss. 

  1. UNCAGED FILM FESTIVAL

    The Uncaged Film Festival is an annual event showcasing Black queer filmmakers and storytellers. It will feature a collection of short documentaries, dramas and animations highlighting the experiences of queer Black people.

  2. BLACK HER-STORY MARKET

    This annual event is an opportunity to explore and shop local women and Black-owned businesses. Food and refreshments will be available for purchase.

  3. BLACK VOICES BOOK CLUB

    Hosted every last Monday of the month, the Black Voices Book Club discusses books written by Black authors. This month’s book is “American Spy” by Lauren Wilkinson.

  4. BLACK CULTURE TRIVIA NIGHT

    Your knowledge of Black history will be tested in a night full of Black culture trivia. Teams are suggested with a max of five players per team.

  5. VIBES & VINYL PARTY AND JAM SESSION 

    This event  will feature four Black DJs who have each uniquely integrated vinyl into their sets, as well as an all-vinyl jam session with all of the artists. This kicks off the  Black Girls Rock! Fest Pop-Up, a festival running from February 29-March 9 celebrating the cultural contributions of Black women artists and creatives.
