There's no question that Howard University students take fashion very seriously. With homecoming season right around the corner, sometimes a professional opinion is needed before you strut your stuff on the yard. Luckily for those who are fashion-impaired, there are students like Tracy Pendleton who are willing to provide styling services so you can remain a Howard Hottie. 

A senior fashion design major from Philadelphia, Pendleton is the mind behind the streetwear brand Trucé L’Officiel along with the styling brand StyledByTrucé. 

The designer, who also serves as a stylist for modeling organization on campus: Models of the Mecca, has been styling clothes for as long as he can remember, always jutting out opinions on outfits to his parents. Two months ago, he opened up his styling services to the public.

Currently, there are five main services offered on his website including: “How Does This Look?" outfit review, “Craft-An-Outfit”, wardrobe styling, custom pieces, and even a styling option for photoshoots. 

The latest package he has to offer is the Homecoming Fashion Styling Service: "The Real HU Treatment." 

This bundle combines the “Craft-An-Outfit”, “How Does This Look?" outfit review, and a wardrobe consultation for $18.67. The special is dedicated to Howard Students looking to perfect their homecoming outfits.

Pendleton describes his style as camp, an out-of-the-box aesthetic that isn’t worried about what is mainstream. He draws inspiration from artists like Nicki Minaj, Zendaya, and Rihanna.

“Seeing how they wear couture pieces and runway pieces and how they style them…I use that as my inspiration to style,” Pendleton explained.

Pendleton truly has a passion for fashion. 

He has one piece of fashion advice you can take wherever you go.

“Always be yourself, never be afraid to step outside the box. When you step outside the box that’s when you get the most results. So I always encourage everybody to step outside the box.”
