Cover 2 Cover celebrated our third issue release and the Blackburn Ballroom could not have been more hype! On Wednesday, Nov. 15 from 1 p.m. to 3. p.m., our fellow students, family, and friends alike gathered to enjoy refreshments, music, and student vendors in honor of “Off The Record”, C2C’s newest drop!
This event was in collaboration with the School of Communications Student Council, ELITE Models, and the Howard Undergraduate Student Assembly (UGSA). With sounds by DJ Wildchild, the vibes were unforgettable! Models from ELITE strutted in a fashion show-esque walk-off as attendees chanted and cheered them on.
Most importantly, each guest had the opportunity to read the new issue and everyone could take one (or a few *wink*) home. “Off The Record” highlights taboo topics one will most likely come across when first stepping foot on a college campus. What was most refreshing was seeing people reading and relating to the stories as they talked with friends, vibed out to music, and sipped their Shirley Temples. Each page sparked genuine, meaningful conversations, evidence that our work resonated.
And of course, it’s not a party without cake! After Editor In Chief, Essence Wiley, and Chief Creative Officer, Omari Foote, gave their remarks, popped a bottle (of non-alcoholic apple cider) and cut into our C2C cake.
All in all, this release party was one for the books! From the sense of community to the magazine table we had to keep refilling, there was never a dull moment. We’re so thankful for every single person who showed support—from our sponsors to our loved ones! We hope you all enjoy “Off The Record”!
